Florida has ideal weather nearly all year long for a vast array of sports! From college sports to the pro’s, our team spirit is centered in the Tampa Bay area. Our major league teams include NFL team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, NHL division championship winning Tampa Bay Lighting, and the MLB team of the Tampa Bay Rays. Because of our area’s springtime weather, we also are host spring training camps for six MLB teams.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Raymond James Stadium in Tampa hosts NFL team, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “Ray-Jay” is infamous for its 103 foot, 43-ton replica pirate ship that fires cannons with every touchdown. The Bucs cheerleaders and Captain Fear use air cannons to blast free shirts, towels and beads to the fans. Besides wearing the home team colors of buccaneer red, pewter and bay orange; Buc fans often show team spirit by dressing in their best pirate or swashbuckler apparel. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl XXXVII Champions in 2002. The owners, the Glazer family, and the players are huge contributors to our community. Raymond James Stadium also hosts college football games for the USF Bulls and the annual Outback Bowl.

Located in the Downtown Tampa’s Channelside district, the Tampa Bay Lighting are proud to host games at the Amalie Arena. The versatile and stunning Amalie Arena is consistently ranked as one of the top venues in the world! Amalie Arena is also home to the arena football team the Tampa Bay Storm.

Tampa Bay Rays

Since being established in 1998, the Tampa Bay Rays have been gaining momentum and fans in the MLB. Unlike many other MLB teams, home games are played in the domed and air-conditioned, Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. The one-of-a-kind Rays Touch Tank offers all attendees a chance to meet and learn about the Florida stingray. A fun fact about the Rays Touch Tank is that for every ball hit into the tank during a game by a Rays player, the Rays will donate $2,500 to the Florida Aquarium and another $2,500 to that player’s charity of choice. Raymond and DJ Kitty, the fan mascots, always get the party started. Make sure to show team support by ringing your cowbell when the opposing team is up to bat or when there is a Rays home run. Team sponsors draw in new fans with fun events, concerts and promotional gifts including the annual cowbell giveaway.
